Drug charges - Alice Springs

Police

Two men will appear before the Alice Springs Local Court after they were caught with a quantity of methamphetamine late yesterday.

The two men, aged 29 and 55-years-old were heading north in a vehicle when they were pulled over by police just before 10pm. It is alleged during a search of the vehicle and its occupants, police located 24 grams of methamphetamine, eight grams of cannabis and drug implements.

The 29-year-old driver was charged with one count each of the following:

  • Drive with prohibited drug in blood
  • Drive whilst unlicensed
  • Possess less than traffickable quantity of Schedule 2 Dangerous Drug
  • Possess traffickable quantity of Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug
  • Supply Dangerous Drug Schedule 1 less commercial

The 55-year-old passenger has been charged with one count each of the following:

  • Possess less than traffickable quantity Schedule 2 Dangerous Drug
  • Possess traffickable quantity Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug
  • Supply dangerous drug Schedule 1 less commercial

The men have been remanded in custody to appear before court later today.
