A 25-year-old male has been charged with manslaughter and sexual intercourse without consent.

Acting Commander Neil Hayes from the NT Police Crime Division said the charges relate to the death of a 5-month-old child in Alice Springs on 26 July 2012.

“The arrest this morning and subsequent charges were the culmination of an extensive police investigation, and follow a coronial inquest held on 12 December 2016 during which further avenues of investigation were identified,” he said.

Police bail has been refused.
