Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses following an alleged serious assault in Darwin City over the weekend.

Around 1:50am on Saturday, 22 December, police located a male who had sustained serious injuries in the vicinity of the corner of Smith St and Peel St, Darwin City.

Due to the fast response of police and witness accounts, police were able to apprehend two males, aged 28 and 43, a short time later. Both men were later charged with Unlawfully Causing Serious Harm.

The victim was transported to hospital where he remains.

Police ask anyone who may have witnessed a disturbance in the area around this time or sighted suspicious males in the vicinity of Shadforth Lane and Darwin City Hotel to come forward.
