Call for Witnesses – Robbery – Fannie Bay

Police

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses in relation to an alleged robbery in Fannie Bay.

The victim in the incident had advertised a mobile phone for sale via a Facebook buy, swap and sell page. The offender agreed to purchase the mobile phone and the victim provided his address.

Around 8:30pm on Wednesday, 12 December, the offender attended the Fannie Bay residence and the victim handed the phone to the offender for inspection. The offender then ran off and the victim chased him to a cream coloured hatchback where the offender locked himself inside.

The victim grabbed hold of the driver’s door handle and attempted to stop the offender from leaving. The offender then took off at speed which caused the victim to fall and sustain minor injuries.

Police are particularly interested in speaking to a passer-by who assisted the victim by looking for the offender.

The Serious Crime Squad are investigating.

Senior Constable Kevin Carr said police remind the public to be cautious when providing their residential address.

“Please be diligent with the use of social media when revealing personal information to strangers,” he said.

Anyone with information is asked to notify police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
