Arrest for Serious Harm - Alice Springs

A man has been arrested and charged in relation to an incident which left a woman with serious injuries in Alice Springs on the weekend.

It is alleged that just after midnight on Saturday 12 August, a 34 year old woman and a 36 year old man were drinking alcohol together at a house on the Ross Highyway

It is further alleged the man armed himself with a weapon and stabbed the woman before a struggle has ensued and the woman suffered further serious injuries.

The man fled the location with their two children, aged 3 and 7 and the woman was transported by St Johns Ambulance to the Alice Springs Hospital where she treated in the ICU.

Police located the two children safe and well at another family member’s house and later located and arrested the man.

The man has been charged with one count each of;

  • Assault a person who suffered serious harm
  • Armed with an Offensive Weapon at Night
  • Engage in conduct that contravenes a DVO

 He is scheduled to appear before the Alice Springs Local Court today.
