Arrest for possession of dangerous drug - Alice Springs

Members of the Southern Drug Investigations Unit arrested a 37-year-old man in relation to multiple drug offences overnight.

Just before midnight the man failed to stop for police conducting a traffic stop in the Sadadeen area. Officers engaged in a pursuit, but terminated it shortly after due to the dangerous manner the man in which the man was riding.

The man was located at a Braitling home where officers conducted a search of and found a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine, a weapon and a quantity of cocaine.

The man was taken to the Alice Springs Watchhouse and later charged with:

  • Self-administer dangerous drug
  • Drive while unlicensed
  • Drive unregistered/uninsured motor vehicle
  • Drive with prohibited drug in blood
  • Drive manner dangerous during pursuit
  • Possess trafficable quantity of schedule 1 drug public place
  • Possess less than trafficable quantity scheduled 1 drug public place
  • Possess controlled weapon at night.

The man will appear before the Alice Springs Local Court at a later date.
