Alcohol in Protected Area - Millingimbi

Police

Northern Territory Police have seized a quantity of alcohol and cannabis bound for an alcohol protected area.

Around ten o’clock yesterday morning, Ramingining Police apprehended a vehicle containing five occupants at the Ramingining Barge Landing.

A subsequent search of the vehicle located:

  • 1.7L rum
  • 1.4L bourbon
  • 1.75L whiskey
  • 700ml vodka
  • 600ml water bottle containing bourbon and cola

A 29-year-old woman was issued with a liquor infringement notice.

Police also located approximately 200 grams of cannabis.

Remote Sergeant Timothy Baird would like to remind the community of the dangerous effects of illicit substances.

“Any substance, organic or not, has the potential to be harmful to your mind and body, particularly when used over an extended amount of time,” he said.

“Despite some community perceptions, any effort to reduce the risk of substance exposure to young people is not wasted.”
