Northern Territory Police have deployed additional members to the communities of Alyangula and Millingimbi to assist local members responding to community unrest.

Additional officers travelled to Alyangula this evening after a disturbance at the local airport where rocks were thrown at members and vehicles, causing damage to the vehicles, when members were conducting searches for drugs.

Additional officers were also despatched to Millingimbi after a group of young men caused damage to a number of vehicles, including a police vehicle, by throwing rocks and firing slingshots at police.

Investigations are ongoing and more information will be provided tomorrow.
