Suspicious Fire – Darwin

Serious Crime Detectives are calling for information in relation to a suspicious fire on Gardens Hill Crescent overnight.

Detective Constable First Class Rinaldo Coulson said the Fire and Rescue Service responded to a fire just after 4:00am in a carpark housing three vehicles and a motorbike.

“All vehicles sustained damage with two being completely destroyed.

“Fire officers have deemed the blaze suspicious and a crime scene has been established.”

Detective Constable First Class Coulson said it was the second time in the night there had been a fire in that area.

“Fire and Rescue Service officers attended a fire 50 metres away where rubbish was burning and extinguished the small fire.

“At that stage it was not seen as suspicious however Serious Crime Detectives are now requesting public assistance in regard to these incidents.

“Anyone who may have seen people in the area between the times of 1:30am and 4:00am or anyone who has information on either of the fires is urged to contact police on 131 444 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
