Search underway for missing people - Peppimenarti

Police

Northern Territory Police are searching for three people who were in a vehicle that was washed off the Moyle River crossing last night.

Territory Duty Superintendent Rob Farmer said police were alerted just after 9:00pm yesterday that a Toyota Troop Carrier with 15 people on board had been attempting to cross the river when the vehicle was pushed off the road.

“Twelve of the people on board made it to the safety of the riverbank but three of their party, a female and two males, are missing.

“Police will attempt to reach the fully submerged vehicle this morning.  It is located about 50 metres downstream of the crossing.”

The crossing is approximately 14 kilometres west of Peppimenarti on the Port Keats Road.
