Man Charged – Possess Stolen Property – Darwin

Northern Territory Police have charged a man following the sale of stolen copper wire.

Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Day said just under $200,000 worth of copper wire was stolen from two Darwin businesses in late March and early April 2017.

“The wire was then allegedly sold to a number of recycling facilities around Darwin and Palmerston.

“On Monday 3 July, Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad arrested a 28-year-old man in relation to the matter.”

 

He was charged with possess stolen property (x2) and obtain benefit by deception (x7).

 

He will appear in Darwin Local Court on 11 July 2017.

Investigations into the identity of a co-offender are ongoing.
