Man Charged – Improper Use of Emergency Call Centre

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged a 46-year-old habitual triple zero caller for improper use of an emergency call centre.

During the month of January 2017 it is alleged the man dialed triple zero and 131444 over 500 times reporting false information, said Superintendent Brendan Muldoon.

“These kind of nuisance calls are a great impact on the service delivery to Territorians and it could result in legitimate triple zero calls being delayed. This is a kind reminder that the triple zero service is for emergency calls only.”

“The man was charged with improper use of an emergency call service and unreasonably cause substantial annoyance.”

He will appear in Darwin Local Court on 2 May 2017.
