Man Charged – Illegal sale of Alcohol – Darwin

Police

A 65-year-old man will appear in court after being caught on-selling alcohol without a licence in Nightcliff.

The man was reported to police after he was allegedly witnessed by a member of the public selling alcohol out of his vehicle to vulnerable itinerants at an inflated price.

Northern Territory Police take this kind of offending extremely seriously, said Senior Sergeant Bruce Payne.

“Members from the Metropolitan Social Order and Engagement Unit work tirelessly to reduce alcohol related anti-social behaviour around Darwin. Those who exploit the vulnerable to make a quick profit can expect to be charged and brought before court.

“Offending of this nature is often difficult to detect and the assistance of the public in this instance is greatly appreciated.”

The man will appear in the Darwin Local Court on Wednesday 31 May 2017.
