Flooding – Katherine Region

Police

Several flood advices have been issued for waterways across the Top End.

Katherine River – Gorge Road – Minor Flood Warning

Gorge Road is currently impassable at Maude Creek Crossing. It is expected to fluctuate over the next few days. Road closures will be in place in several areas with localised flooding. Police will continue to monitor the situation during the day and keep the community informed.

Waterhouse River Minor Flood Warning

The Central Arnhem Highway remains closed west of Beswick due to water across the road.  The situation continues to be assessed.

General advice

Residents are to ensure their emergency kit and household plan is ready.

Residents in areas where roads likely to be affected by flooding are advised to exercise caution if driving and to drive to the conditions.

Do not attempt to cross flooded waterways unless you are sure of the depth and speed of the water.

Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways and stop children playing in or near floodwaters
