The Northern Territory road toll has risen to 23 after the death of a 34-year-old woman near Woodycupildiya yesterday.

The woman was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by a 34-year-old man. The crash happened when the driver lost control and crashed into a tree just before 11.30am yesterday.

The driver escaped injury, while another 50-year-old passenger has been flown to Adelaide with spinal injuries.

Investigations are continuing.

The road toll at the same time last year was 32.
