The 36-year-old male arrested on Thursday as part of the ongoing investigation into the death of Jason McCormick in Winnellie on New Year’s Eve, was released from custody without charge in regard to the death yesterday afternoon.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Tony Henrys said the male was charged with criminal damage and will appear at the Darwin Local court on 24 January, 2017.

“Police are continuing to investigate this matter and are seeking public assistance to help identify a person who attempted to enter the Winnellie Hotel just after 9.30pm on New Year’s Eve with three other people," he said.
