Larapinta Drive has reopened following a fatal crash about 15km from Alice Springs.
The crash happened about 4.45pm yesterday when a Toyota Camry being driven by a 17-year-old male drifted onto the wrong side of the road, colliding head-on with a Toyota Hilux being driven by a 73-year-old man.
As a result of the crash, the 17-year-old male and a 67-year-old female passenger in the Hilux have died.
Alice Springs-based detectives from Territory Major Crash Investigations are investigating the crash, and the possibility speed was a factor.
A file will be prepared for the Coroner.
The crash takes the Territory road toll to two, compared with one for the same time last year.
