Northern Territory Police have charged a 38-year-old man following an altercation in Amoonguna Community on 16 February.

Detective Superintendent Michael White said the incident occurred around 11:00pm.

“It is alleged the offender approached a 41-year-old man from behind, punching him once to the head, rendering him unconscious,” he said.

“The victim was airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for critical neurosurgery.

“The offender was arrested in Alice Springs yesterday.”

He will appear in the Alice Spring Local Court today.
