Charges – Unlawful Entry – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have charged a 17-year-old male following an unlawful entry in Alice Springs yesterday.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said that between 1:30am and 8:00am on 10 January the offender allegedly gained entry to a residence, where he stole a motor vehicle.

“Police allege the youth drove around Alice Springs before losing control and crashing the vehicle on Len Kittle Drive,” he said.

“St John Ambulance and Police attended the scene, where the youth then assaulted one of the ambulance officers and spat at two police officers. He was taken to Alice Springs Hospital where he allegedly assaulted police again.”

The youth was charged with:

  • Unlawful entry
  • Stealing
  • Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle
  • Drive unlicensed
  • Drive under the influence of alcohol
  • Assault upon worker
  • Assault police (x3)

He was refused police bail and is to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.
