Call for Witnesses – Aggravated Assault – Palmerston

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses to a stabbing in Palmerston yesterday afternoon.

A 34-year-old man is this morning in intensive care, following the altercation near the Palmerston Shopping Centre on Temple Terrace about 5pm.

A 30-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman have been arrested over the incident and remain in custody.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant David Allan from the Serious Crime Squad said the victim became involved in a verbal altercation, before he allegedly took a beverage belonging to the 42-year-old woman.

“The 34-year-old man involved himself in the altercation and allegedly stabbed the victim to the upper body.”

“The 42-year-old woman then approached the victim and became involved in the physical struggle where it’s alleged she also stabbed the victim a number of times to the body.

“The offenders were disturbed by two security guards, who assisted the victim until police and paramedics arrived.

“The incident occurred in daylight hours next to a busy road. Police encourage anyone who witnessed the incident to call 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
