Northern Territory Police and Emergency Services are searching for two people in the west MacDonnell Ranges following a call for assistance yesterday.

Sergeant Lee Bauwens said that NT Police received a call at about 6:30pm from a male with an American accent.

“The man told police, that he and his partner were hiking in the west MacDonnell Ranges and are now lost,” he said.

“The call cuts out shortly thereafter.

“It is believed that the couple are aged between 50 and 60.”

Police have concerns about the welfare of the couple and are asking anyone who has any information about the hikers, or anyone who may have passed an American couple on the trail, to contact police on 131 444.
