Alice Springs Police Station – Change to Front Counter Opening Times

Police

As of Thursday 12 January, the operating hours of the Alice Springs Police Station front counter will be changed to 7.00am through to 7.00pm, seven days a week.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Danny Bacon said the change of opening hours will help ensure police continue to deliver the highest quality customer service to the community of Alice Springs.

“The decision to adjust the operating hours of the Alice Springs front counter is the result of a detailed workload analysis of our front counter operations, and follows consultation with the NT Police Association,” he said.

“We have redirected our front counter resources to the peak periods, so reducing the wait for our customers at times of highest demand. It’s about providing timely and efficient service.”

Outside of these hours an intercom system is available for police assistance. The intercom is located at the front door, which will put users who require police assistance directly in with the communication centre, which is staffed 24/7.  If an immediate response is required by police, they will attend the front counter and provide the assistance required.

The new operating hours bring Alice Springs in line with all other stations across the NT, with the exception of Darwin City.

“Police will continue to operate 24 hours a day from the location. It is also expected that this change will allow for the other resources that have been regularly called upon to assist on the front counter to be freed up for other frontline operational and public safety functions,” Acting Assistant Commissioner Danny Bacon said.
