Woman Charged – Drink Spiking – Darwin

Northern Territory Police have charged a 38-year-old woman following an incident of drink spiking and stealing.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Kirk Pennuto said Police will allege on Wednesday 29 June 2016, the offender attended a Darwin Casino and befriended a male patron.

“Police will allege the pair travelled back to a Darwin hotel, where the offender allegedly drugged the male, rendering him unconscious.

“It is believed the offender then stole the man’s bank cards, identification cards, mobile phone and cash.

“She was arrested yesterday morning at her residence in Wulagi. A search warrant was conducted and various stolen property was seized, along with a small amount of white powder believed to be methamphetamine.

“She was also questioned in relation to numerous transactions made on a stolen credit card amounting to more than $1300.”

She was charged with:

  • Drink spiking
  • Stealing
  • Unlawfully possess property
  • Obtain benefit by deception (x17)
  • Possess Schedule 1 drug

She will appear in Darwin Local Court today.
