Following a comprehensive investigation by Northern Territory Water Police into the vessel collision on Saturday 21 May 2016 at Charles Point, this matter has now been referred to the Commonwealth Agency - the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and the Northern Territory Department of Transport Marine Safety Branch for completion.

Strict protocols are in place regarding maritime incidents, and all relevant information will be provided to AMSA and the NT Marine Safety Branch by NT Police to assist with their investigation.

As this investigation has been transferred, no further public comment will be made by NT Police.
