A 14-year-old youth has been charged after allegedly damaging property and stealing from a business on Schwartz Crescent.

Superintendent Helen Braam said the male was spoken to by Police not long after the incident on 14 January and charged yesterday.

“Detectives have estimated damage and loss to the business exceeded $6,000.

“An alarm at the premises has possibly prevented any further damage or loss and security were on the scene quickly.  Unfortunately the youth had left the scene prior to their arrival.”

The youth was charged with:

• Aggravated unlawful entry
• Stealing
• Damage property
• Breach bail

He will appear in the Alice Springs Youth Court today
