Task Force Investigation into Youth-Related Incidents at Northern Territory Detention Centres

Police

The Northern Territory Police have established a Task Force to review and further investigate, where necessary, allegations of violence against youths held in Youth Detention Centres across the Northern Territory.

The Task Force is keen to hear from members of the public and other agencies with information they may have relating to any criminal acts committed upon youths in these establishments dating back to 2006.

“All relevant information is of importance to the Task Force,” Assistant Commissioner Peter Bravos said. “We will assess all information and where necessary re-visit allegations that have been reported previously or commence new investigations as appropriate. Even if the matter has been previously investigated, the Task Force is keen to assess any information that may not have been known at the time.”

Anyone with information that may be relevant is encouraged to email the details of the information to the Task Force at policeyouthdetentiontaskforce@pfes.nt.gov.au
