Northern Territory Police are investigating a suspicious fire in Alice Springs.

Fire and Rescue teams attended the fire about 4:30am this morning and extinguished the fire.

The fire extensively damaged the house and the cause is yet to be established.

The house was vacant at the time and no people were injured.

A witness reported an unidentified male running from the area.

A crime scene has been established and investigations are ongoing.
