Strike Force Trident redeployed to Palmerston

Police

Maintaining law and order is a priority for Northern Territory Police.

On Monday, 29 February 2016, part of Strike Force Trident will be redeployed to Palmerston Station, as part of a three month trial.

This trial will see the relocation of eight investigators, and is intended to further enhance the working relationship between Trident and Palmerston Police.

It will allow NT Police to apply additional strategies and tactics to influence the levels of reported crime in Palmerston, and make new inroads into crime reduction.

Established in September 2012, Strike Force Trident was created purposely to deal with property crime and has proved to be a highly successful specialist Police unit.

In the last six months alone, Trident has made over 600 arrests and laid over 3000 charges for various property related offences.

Police acknowledge and understand community concerns about crime in their neighbourhoods, and welcome any assistance or information residents can provide which will assist Police.

While Palmerston property crime has seen an overall reduction when compared with the previous year, NT Police are committed to working with communities to identify more ways we can improve safety and security.

This trial of a partial redeployment is part of a determined effort by NT Police to allocate its resources in a way that ensures they are making a difference in the community.

Police encourage all members of the public to report all crimes or suspicious behaviour to Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
