Police have recovered two vehicles that were reported stolen this morning.

A white Toyota Landcruiser Sahara and a white Nissan Navara were found abandoned in Rapid Creek and Coconut Grove just after midday.

Superintendent Hege Burns said the offenders were still at large and possibly on the lookout for another opportunity to steal.

“We are asking members of the public to be vigilant of suspicious activity, to ensure any valuables are not in sight and to check vehicles and homes are secure.

“Many of these crimes are opportunistic so we ask that people take a little more time to lock your doors and remove valuables out of sight, please do not make it easy for these criminals to make you a victim.

“Anyone who has any information that may assist police is urged to contact 131 444 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”

Superintendent Burns said public information received this morning was helpful and appreciated.
