Northern Territory Police are investigating two separate sexual assaults that occurred in Darwin overnight.
Senior Constable Byron May said Police were first called to Scaturchio Street in Casuarina at 10:15pm where a 25-year-old woman had allegedly been assaulted by an unknown male.
“It is alleged that as the woman was walking through the car park area between Trower Road and Scaturchio Street she was approached from behind by a male and dragged to ground before he sexually assaulted her.”
“The male is described as being of Indigenous in appearance, in his early 20’s, of medium height and slim build. He was wearing a light coloured shirt, dark shorts and a dark baseball cap.
“The second incident occurred in the Darwin CBD around 12:15 am where it is alleged a 34-year-old woman was sexually assaulted while she was sleeping near the corner of Smith Street and Bennett Street, the woman attended the Darwin Police Station to report the matter.
“That male is described as being of Indigenous appearance and of large build.
“Police do not believe these incidents are related.”
