OMCG Associates Charged – Drugs and Firearms Seized

Members from the Gangs Taskforce have seized 184 grams of crystal methamphetamine and charged two males following an investigation into the supply of illicit substances to Outlaw Motor Cycle Gangs in the Territory.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said Police conducted a traffic apprehension on an FJ Cruiser as it pulled into the drive way of a Humpty Doo residence yesterday morning.

“Police allegedly located 141 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle. The 27-year-old driver was charged with supply of a commercial quantity of methamphetamine (x2), and various traffic offences. Police will allege he travelled from Melbourne with the intent of supplying illicit substances to the Darwin market.

“Whilst searching the vehicle, the owner of the residence returned home, he was also apprehended. A search warrant was executed and Police seized:

 

  • 2 x 12 gauge shotguns
  • 1 x 7.65 calibre semiautomatic pistol
  •  Ammunition
  • Steroids
  • Prohibited weapons including throwing knives
  • An improvised explosive device
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • A 6.2 metre Yellow Fin aluminium boat.

 

He was interviewed in relation to these items and a parcel that was intercepted by Police in February 2016 which contained 43 grams of methamphetamine. He was charged with:

 

  • Supply schedule 1 dangerous drug (methamphetamine) - commercial quantity (x2)
  • Supply schedule 1 dangerous drug (methamphetamine)
  • Possess schedule 4 poison
  • Possess tainted property
  • Possess unregistered firearms (x2)
  • Fail to meet storage requirements
  • Possess prohibited weapon (x2)
  • Possess fireworks
  • Possess explosive device

 

They will both appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.

“This seizure is the result of a long term operation by members of the Gangs Task Force. These arrests will disrupt the supply of methamphetamine by this syndicate and should serve as a warning to those involved in these types of criminal activities,” said Detective Stringer.
