The Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service have today welcomed a delegation of Bombeiros from Timor-Leste.

The Bombeiros - who hail from various fire stations across Timor-Leste - are also are accompanied by the Timor-Leste Director of Civil Protection and the project manager from the National Disaster Management Directorate

They are visiting Darwin for three days to view NTFRS facilities and communication systems; take part in training exercises and disaster preparedness; and discuss a future training schedule with the NTFRS.

The visit comes off the back of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Northern Territory Government and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, and their respective Fire and Emergency services.

The MoU will develop a long-term sustainable relationship with the aim of increasing the capability and capacity of both parties.
