Northern Territory Police have charged a 19-year-old male for allegedly riding a motorbike erratically around Alice Springs last night.
Acting Senior Sergeant Conan Robertson from the Alice Springs traffic division said that Police observed the offender on his motorbike on Bath Street near the Police Station car park.
“Police attempted to apprehend the vehicle, but when the driver failed to stop, we did not engage in a pursuit in the interests of public safety,” he said.
“The public reported several sightings of the man in the Alice Springs Central Business District. He was apprehended and arrested at the at the roundabout of Stott Terrace and Leichardt Terrace.
“A breath test returned a reading of 0.114.”
He was charged with:
- Drive vehicle in a dangerous manner
- Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed
- Drive uninsured motor vehicle
- Drive unregistered motor vehicle
- Drive medium range blood alcohol content
- Fail to obey signal of member (Not stop)
- Fail to obey red traffic light
He was issued with a Notice to Appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court.
