Man Charged – Perverting the Course of Justice

Police

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 29-year-old male following an attempt to pervert the course of justice in Alice Springs yesterday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said that as a condition of the offender’s parole conditions he is subjected to regular urine tests.

“The man was searched prior to providing a sample and a vial of urine was allegedly found on his person,” he said.

“He was conveyed to the Alice Springs Watch House and charged with attempt to pervert the course of justice.

“He was remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court today.

“Faking a pathology test is a very serious offence. Samples of urine that have been sold or provided to parolees can be tested and result in charges to the person who supplied the clean sample,” Detective Senior Sergeant Malley said.
