Members from Strike Force Romulus have arrested a 40-year-old man following multiple alleged assaults on a 37-year-old female dating back to January 2016.
Superintendent Helen Braam said that the man was arrested on 16 February.
“Police will allege that on 27 January the offender assaulted the woman with a fork, causing lacerations to her face. The man then armed himself with a rock and struck the woman to the head,” she said.
“On 2 February, arming himself with a rock, the offender struck the woman again to her head then assaulted her with a metal pole causing the woman to suffer a fractured arm.
“Between 15 and 16 February, the man assaulted her with a broomstick, striking the woman to her head.”
He has been charged with:
- Aggravated assault
- Possess/ use offensive weapon (x 2)
- Cause serious harm
The man was remanded in custody and will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
“Domestic violence is a significant community issue. Police will continue to work with stakeholders and the community, to ensure perpetrators of domestic violence are prosecuted,” said Superintendent Braam.
