Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad have arrested a 19-year-old male in relation to an alleged attempted robbery in Palmerston overnight.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board said just before midnight a male approached a taxi driver and demanded money.

 “The male produced a knife, a wrestle ensued and he ran from the area empty-handed.

 “The suspect was arrested this morning and remains in Police custody while further enquiries are conducted.

 “The victim sustained minor injuries to his arm and was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital and has since been discharged,” Detective Senior Sergeant Board said.

 Police are calling for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or anyone with any information to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
