Five Youths Charged – Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle

Members from Strike Force Trident have charged five youths following the unlawful use of two motor vehicles allegedly stolen from the Palmerston area.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said Police will allege on 28 February 2016, four males youths aged between 11 and 14, stole a green Ford Territory from a residence in Durack.

“Late Monday night the vehicle was located abandoned in the Rosebery area, the youths were arrested nearby and conveyed to Darwin Watch House for questioning.

“They were all charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and will appear in Darwin Youth Justice Court on Friday 4 March 2016.

“In a separate incident, Police have charged a 13-year-old youth for the unlawful use of a motor vehicle stolen from a Rosebery residence on 28 February.”

He will appear in Darwin Youth Justice Court today.

On Monday, eight officers from Strike Force Trident redeployed to Palmerston station as part of a three month trial. This initiative will allow NT Police to apply additional strategies and tactics to influence the levels of reported crime in Palmerston, and make new inroads into crime reduction.
