Northern Territory Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 37-year-old prisoner at the Darwin Correctional Centre on Saturday afternoon.

The man was outside his cell when it is believed he suffered a medical episode.

A brief of evidence will be prepared for the Coroner.
