Northern Territory Police have charged a 14-year-old male youth in relation to two alleged unlawful entries in Palmerston last week.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland from Strike Force Trident said the youth and unknown co-offenders allegedly entered a home in Durack in the early hours of February 1, where they stole a television, gaming console and two knives.

“The offenders have then entered the victims’ bedroom where they were sleeping and stole a handbag containing keys. They then used those keys to take a black Holden Commodore ute from the location,” he said.

“They were captured on CCTV a short time later at a service station.”

The ute was recovered the next morning.

“Later in the week, the youth and unknown co-offenders are believed to have unlawfully entered a residence in Bellamack, where they stole an iPod, purse and the keys to the owner’s Mitsubishi Lancer.

“They were captured a short time later on CCTV, again at a service station where they allegedly stole lollies, chips and bottles of soft drink.”

The youth handed himself in to police yesterday (Monday, February 8).

He was charged with:

• Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle (x2)
• Drive unlicensed
• Stealing

He was remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Youth Court today.
