Charges – Unlawful Entries – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have charged two men aged 18 and 19 in relation to a string of unlawful entries between 2 and 3 June in Alice Springs.

Detective Sergeant Lewis Chown from the Southern Tactical Investigation Squad said that the men were charged for five separate offences.

“It is alleged that the men entered a business in George St about 10:45pm on 2 June. They were disturbed by an occupant of the building and fled the scene,” he said.

“Then about 2:20am on the morning of 3 June, the offenders gained entry to a residence in Gillen. They took a set of car keys and stole a vehicle that was parked in the driveway.

“The offenders then attempted to break into a business on Smith Street. They were disturbed by Police and fled the scene.

“About 3:00am the offenders attempted to break into a business on Sadadeen Road. They fled the scene due to an approaching vehicle.

“Around 4:45am the offenders broke into another business in Stuart Terrace. Police attended the scene and located the offenders on the roof and were subsequently arrested. The stolen vehicle was located in the adjoining alley with the motor running.”

The 18-year-old man was charged with: 

  • Unlawful entry - building x4
  • Unlawful entry - dwelling
  • Aggravated unlawful use motor vehicle
  • Damage to property x3
  • Stealing
  • Possess housebreaking implement

The 19-year-old man was charged with: 

  • Unlawful entry - building x2
  • Damage to property
  • Aggravated unlawful use motor vehicle
  • Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed  

Both of the men were remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court today.
