Northern Territory Police have charged six males in relation to an incident involving a stolen vehicle in Alice Springs on the morning of Tuesday, 4 October 2016.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said police will allege that three offenders - aged 12 and 14 - stole a vehicle about 7:00pm on 3 October and at 2:30am on 4 October, they picked up an additional five males.
“The offenders drove the stolen vehicle around the suburb of Larapinta, during which time they were noticed by Police and arrested a short time later. However, one offender remains outstanding.” he said.
A 19-year-old male was charged with:
- Aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle
- Unlicensed driver with alcohol in blood
- Drive unlicensed
- Drive manner dangerous
- Consume alcohol in protected area
- Fail to obey direction of Police Officer
He was remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court today.
A 14-year-old male was charged with:
- Aggravated unlawful use motor vehicle
- Stealing
- Damage to property
- Trespass
He is due to appear in the Alice Springs Youth Court 7 November.
A 19-year-old male was charged with:
- Aggravated unlawful use motor vehicle
He was bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court on 27 October 2016.
A 15-year-old male, and a 17-year-old male were charged with:
- Aggravated unlawful use motor vehicle
They are due to appear in the Alice Springs Youth Court 7 November.
In addition to the charges relating to the stolen vehicle, a 12-year-old male was also charged for offences regarding an unlawful entry and extensive damage to a number of vehicles at a business located on the Stuart Highway on 25 September.
He was charged with:
- Unlawful entry - Building
- Unlawful entry - Dwelling
- Damage to property
- Stealing (x2)
- Aggravated unlawful use motor vehicle
He is due to appear in the Alice Springs Youth Court on 7 November.
Another 12-year-old male was given youth diversion.
