Charges – Stealing – Palmerston

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged a 22-year-old man in relation to the alleged theft of goods from a vehicle in Palmerston late last month.

The male is the third person to be charged over the incident.

Acting Officer-in-Charge of Palmerston Station Acting Senior Sergeant Ben Williams said the man and two co-offenders allegedly stole more than $30,000 worth of electrical and surveying equipment from the vehicle parked at the rear of the Palmerston BMX track on 29 April.

“The victims were away from their vehicle for about 30 minutes and upon returning discovered the window of the vehicle had been smashed and the equipment stolen,” A/Senior Sergeant Williams said.

“The first two co-offenders were tracked using the ‘Find my iPhone’ app and were arrested in Driver on April 30 and Moulden on May 7. The third offender was arrested last night.

“The majority of the stolen property has now been recovered,” A/Senior Sergeant Williams said.

The man has been charged with:

  • Trespass
  • Criminal Damage
  • Stealing

He was bailed to appear in Darwin Local Court on 6 June 2016.
