Charges – Sexual Assault – Jabiru

Northern Territory Police have charged a 20-year-old man in relation to an alleged sexual assault in Jabiru.

Jabiru Officer in Charge, Sergeant Rob de Vos, said it is believed the offence took place in a semi-vegetated area of the town about 9.30pm Thursday, 12 May.

“The man allegedly grabbed a 28-year-old woman and sexually assaulted her,” he said.

“The victim managed to seize the offender’s driver licence and other identity cards, before the man fled the scene.

The victim contacted Police and was conveyed to the Jabiru clinic.

The man was arrested on Friday 13 May and charged with sexual intercourse without consent.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Katherine Local Court today.
