Charges – Sell Liquor Without a License – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have charged a 30-year-old male for allegedly selling alcohol without a license in Alice Springs.

Acting Superintendent Virginia Read said Police were provided with information by a member of the public in relation to the sale of alcohol occurring in a public place at The Gap.

“Police located a male in his vehicle a short time later,” she said.

“He was arrested and Police also seized a quantity of alcohol and cash from the vehicle.

“The male was subjected to a breath test which resulted in a medium range breath alcohol concentration.”

He was charged with:

  • Sell liquor without a license
  • Drive medium range blood alcohol content
  • Fail to produce licence upon request

He was bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on Thursday 7April 2016.

“The sale of liquor without the appropriate licence is a serious offence which can attract penalties including a substantial fine and/or imprisonment of up to 12 months,” Acting Superintendent Read said.

“If the public has any information relating to the unlawful sale of liquor, they are urged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
