Northern Territory Police have charged two youths in relation to a robbery at a business in Woodroffe yesterday afternoon (March 31).
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said the two males – aged 16 and 17 – had visited the business earlier in the day, before the 17-year-old returned later in the afternoon.
“It is alleged he threatened staff at the store with a metal pole and attempted to get into the cash register,” he said.
“When he was unable to get in, he stole cigarettes and fled.”
The youth was then re-joined by his 16-year-old counterpart and spotted by police.
They were later arrested at a residential property on Bonson Tce.
The 16-year-old was charged with:
- Aggravated robbery
- Trespass
- Aggravated unlawful entry
The 17-year-old was also identified as having been involved in numerous other offences across Palmerston and was charged with:
- Damage to property (x2)
- Attempted aggravated robbery
- Stealing
- Aggravated robbery
- Trespass (x2)
- Aggravated Unlawful Entry (x2)
The 17-year-old was remanded to appear on May 13 and the 16-year-old remanded to appear on April 12.
