Charges – Crime Spree – Alice Springs

Two men aged 19 and 20 have been charged in relation to 20 unlawful entries across Alice Springs through March.

Detective Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips from Southern Investigations Division said the pair were arrested by detectives from Strike Force Vega after allegedly breaking in to a car detailing business in Elders St.

“They then made admissions to the Unlawful Entry, Stealing and Criminal Damage offences relating to 19 other locations across the town during March.”

The men were witnessed breaking into the car detailers about 2.30am yesterday (Tuesday, 22 March). Police were called and found the pair with another 20-year-old man and a 14-year-old male youth.

They were searched and found with a pair of bolt cutters, torch and bottles of beer – all believed stolen.

The pair were charged with:

  • Unlawful Entry (x20)
  • Stealing (x20)
  • Criminal Damage (x20)

They were remanded to appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.

The other man and the youth were each charged with one count each of the above, and bailed to appear tomorrow (March 24).
