Charges – Crash – Berrimah

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged a 24-year-old man in relation to a crash on the corner of Tiger Brennan Drive and Berrimah Road on Tuesday night.

Road Policing Division Acting Superintendent Serge Bouma said the man has allegedly approached the intersection at excessive speed on the wet road. He has subsequently lost control of the blue Holden station wagon he was driving and slid through the intersection, against a red light, crashing into a white Holden sedan.

The driver and passenger then fled the scene, but were arrested a short time later after being tracked by the Dog Operations Unit.

He has been charged with 10 traffic offences, including two counts of both drive dangerous cause serious harm and hit and run.

He was also charged with driving with a prohibited drug in blood.

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
