Northern Territory Police have charged a 19-year-old man with arson following a fire at a home in Katherine on Friday night.

Northern Investigations Section Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Malogorski said the blaze took hold of the property in Coolibah Cct, Katherine East about 11.20pm.

The home was destroyed. The occupant escaped without injury.

The man was charged with:

• Arson
• Trespass on enclosed premises
• Stealing
• Unlawful Entry

He was remanded to appear in Katherine Local Court today.
