Northern Territory Police have charged a 31-year-old man in relation to an aggravated assault in Alice Springs on 23 February.

Superintendent Helen Braam said the 26-year-old woman was found on South Terrace with head wounds about 1am.

The man has been charged with:

• Unlawfully cause serious harm
• Aggravated assault
• Armed with offensive weapon
• Resist Police in execution of duty

He was remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
