Call for Witnesses - Death - Nhulunbuy - Update

Following an autopsy today, a 39-year-old male was found to have drowned.

Detective Superintendent Travis Wurst said Major Crime Squad Detectives will continue investigations into the circumstances resulting in the death on Town Beach in Nhulunbuy on Wednesday, 25 May.

“Police are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Town Beach and the Surf Club between midday and 5:00pm on Wednesday afternoon, including a Caucasian male who was fishing near the surf club shortly before 5:00pm that day.

“We continue to ask anyone who may have seen the man at the Walkabout Hotel prior to midday on Wednesday to also contact Police,” Detective Superintendent Wurst said.

He is described as about 179cm tall, of thin build and short dark hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt with a Wile E Coyote motif and black shorts. Anyone who can assist is urged to contact Police on 131 444 or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
